CATCHING SKILLS SESSIONS
Catcher development requires quality reps — and that's exactly what these sessions deliver. With groups capped at 4 athletes, every catcher gets personalized attention and plenty of work across all three pillars of the position: receiving, blocking, and throwing. Sessions open with catcher-specific mobility to get the body moving right, then dive into targeted drill progressions designed to build a robust skillset that will translate to on-field performance. No filler. Just focused, high-level catching work in an environment that is both collaborative and competitive.

WHAT TO EXPECT
ELITE
INSTRUCTION
Led by an experienced coach, each session will include high-level instruction in the three pillars of the catching position - receiving, blocking, and throwing - through intentionally designed drill progressions.
SMALL
GROUPS
Sessions are capped at 4 athletes per group, ensuring every catcher gets genuine attention and quality reps — enough to really move the needle in each athlete’s development.
AGE
SPECIFIC
With youth, middle school, and high school athletes training separately, instruction and intensity are always calibrated to the right level, ensuring each catcher gets what they need, when they need it.
MEET THE COACH
NOLAN ACKERMAN
Nolan Ackerman is one of the original Backstop Bandits — a former college catcher who has been developing catchers in the Denver metro area with Backstop Bandits since the beginning. A BB Certified catching coach, Nolan brings the same standard of high-level instruction to every session that defines the Backstop Bandits program. He caught at Southeast Missouri State and the College of San Mateo, and coaches with the firsthand understanding of what it actually takes to play the position at a high leve
TRAIN BEYOND THE SESSIONS
The work doesn't stop when the session ends. BACKSTOP CLUB is our remote training platform designed to keep you developing between sessions — so every time you step back in the cage, you're a step ahead of where you left off. Access daily catcher-specific programming, mobility work, and skill content built to complement your in-person training and make the time we spend together more productive. The more you put in outside the cage, the more you get out of it inside.
