COACHES
TURNER PRUITT
“OG” & FOUNDER
Turner founded the BACKSTOP BANDITS in 2022 alongside the other “OGs.” He is a former JUCO Bandit (Saddleback & NOC Enid) and a graduate of Fresno Pacific University, where he played his final two years of college baseball. His playing career also included two stints with the Savannah Bananas, where he was part of the 2022 CPL Championship team.
Since graduating in 2024, Turner has been developing catchers full-time. He’s worked with hundreds of catchers across the country at all levels, including 8-year-olds learning the position, high schoolers looking to get recruited, some of the top talent in college baseball, along with current professionals.
Turner’s mission is to help catchers develop what he calls “Catching Freedom,” which is what a catcher experiences when he can execute elite skills at a high level, direct his energy toward facilitating team performance, and ultimately bring the best out of himself by operating in a playful and confident state.
“Catching brought me a lot of incredible experiences in my life, both on and off the field. I want to help as many players as I can achieve their own goals and experience all the position has to offer by becoming confident and competent leaders.” - Turner
Turner is currently training catchers at THE BACKSTOP BUNKER - a training facility designed specifically for catchers in Pinellas Park, FL. He also runs BACKSTOP CLUB - our remote training platform, and leads all BACKSTOP BOOTCAMPS.
